Description
The Nextteq tert-Butyl Mercaptan Tube No. NX156M provides direct measurement of tert-butyl mercaptan over two ranges—5–80 ppm with a ½ pump stroke (50 mL) and 2.5–40 ppm with a full stroke (100 mL)—using a clear yellow-to-pink color change, with the tube calibrated on ethyl mercaptan and offering the same sensitivity for tert-butyl mercaptan, and full-stroke readings converted using a simple 0.5× formula. With a 1 ppm detectable limit at 100 mL, a 2-year shelf life, and a 32–104°F operating range, this tube is well suited for workplace and process monitoring of tert-butyl mercaptan, even though no TLV value is currently listed (TLV: N/A), noting that hydrogen sulfide, phosphine, other mercaptans, arsine, hydrogen selenide, and hydrogen cyanide can produce similar stains and higher readings.
